Greetings.

3,615 miles / 5,820kms.

Just passed it. The current Guinness World Record for the Longest Journey by Skateboard. Stoked.

Still a long way to go until I head home to New Zealand though. From here in Lordsburg, New Mexico, USA, I continue skateboarding west through Phoenix, Arizona, all the way to Los Angeles. Then off to China to complete the 3,000 mile bit I couldn’t do at the beginning of the journey.

It is hot here. I’m only here in the library because of pressing internet stuff. Honest. Nothing to do with slacking off…

Flickr.com is blocked by the library internet filtering software, so no photo updates on this one.

I hope to do that in Safford.

Till then, toodle loo.

Congratulations on both the record and making it across Texas on the board. Being from Austin, I know just how nasty some of that chipseal is – no fun at all. In any case, enjoy the desert scenery and take care of yourself in this more rugged part of the states.

Go you good thing. And in those immortal words of Winston Churchill: Never give up. Never give up. Never, never, never, never give up!!

Well done mate.

I will have to get your autograph when you get back. Should have done it when you were still living in Christchurch. I'm sure I could have sold it on Trademe for about $400.

Congratulations Rob. Nice that those miles clocked up not long after you felt so down and depressed about all the horrible roads in Texas. The euphoria of reaching your goal should keep you going for miles!! I hope the roads are all great in the next States you go through.

So you've beaten the record and you still have miles to go. Well done! Enjoy the rest of America.

Well Done Rob,

What you have done is incredible with extra ordinary will power and determination. Really enjoying your travel log some places are familar but many are small town America where the real people live. Good luck on your journey East.

How are the roads in New Mexico so far?

Oh, and you may feel entitled to a little rest after breaking a Guiness World Record, I am sure its there in the fine print…

Hello Rob,

WOW, you did it ! (not that I ever doubted)

Congratulations. We love your reports and pictures from the southern states of the USA. One day I will be there on my bicycle and will follow the Adventure Cycling Association's route, which most likely will follow a lot of your route. Keep up the good work and that care !

Let me add my congrats Rob! I've been following your adventures since way back before you grew a beard full of ice. Amazing! If you ever decide to skate or bike around Oahu look me up!

It was good news to be woken up by at 5.45am last Thursday! I don't usually have my cellphone in my bedroom at night but I did that time. Not sure what time it was for you when you sent the text – probably around 1pm Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing some photos of New Mexico.

Hello Rob,

Cindy and I were glad to stop and talk to you this morning on the side of the road…but for your fans, you are now in Arizona. :-) Hope the high winds today didn't slow you down too much. We had a great bike ride into Lordsburg with 30 to 50mph tailwinds! Good luck to you on all your adventures. Mark

Fantastic news Rob. What an amazing achievement, but we never doubted you would do it after seeing you going uphill in Texas. Only one more state to go! Robin & Jackie
