English Summary: Frustrating icy headwind today blowing up the narrow valley I was travelling along. Plus I got the first puncture of the trip so far (see video below). Only one puncture for more than 6,000km travelled – not bad. An energy sapping ride ends 20km from Erzincan city.

Amazing that you have gone so far and only one puncture!! Must have tough inner tubes!!

Aunty Lyn, the reason I had not had any punctures so far is because of the great tyres I was using. The Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres have a built in puncture protection belt that make it impossible for even a thumb tack to puncture the inner tube. Unfortunately I had to put some more knobbly tyres on the bike for the snow, which do not have the puncture protection belt.

I just got home from the Buskers Festival watching Fire Dancers. You would have loved it! Have you managed to find room in those bags of yours for any flammable stuff?

Andrew, I seriously considered packing my collapsible fire staff for the trip, but ended up sending it back to NZ with the rest of my stuff anyway. So none of this silliness on the trip so far.
